Gluten-Free Pop Up Shop Opens in Dublin

Unglu-d is a Gluten-Free Shop that has re-opened its doors this year for a longer duration due to the increased demand for Gluten Free Foods.

The shop itself is situated in Unit 3 Royal Hibernian Way, Dawson Street, Dublin 2 and has partnered with a variety of big brands including Free’ist to bring consumers a special Gluten-Free Shopping Experience.

The creator of Unglu-d is Aileen Markey, a Coeliac herself. She was diagnosed a couple of years and decided to test the concept of having a store completely dedicated for Coeliacs and individuals who are Gluten Intolerant.

According to the Ireland Coeliac Society, Ireland is considered one of the countries with the highest coeliac disease  rates in the world. A possible reason for this may be the Irish diets, which are historically rich in Cereals and Wheat laded foods.

Unglu-d are stocking our Free’ist Gluten-Free Range which includes our six Chocolate Bars, Popcorns, Marshmallows & Jams.

Sugar Free S’mores

A S’more is a traditional camping snack that has been popular with kids and their parents for years. Although many different varieties of S’mores have developed over time, the S’more is basically a sandwich of roasted marshmallows & chocolate between two biscuits.

Here at Free’ist, we have developed our own variety – SUGAR FREE S’MORES

Once you’ve done one, you’ll want to do s’more and s’more..

PREP TIME: 5 minutes
COOK TIME: 2 minutes

INGREDIENTS
Free’ist Sugar Free Tea Biscuits (Buy here)
Free’ist Sugar Free Marshmallows (Buy here)
Free’ist Sugar Free Dark Chocolate (Buy here)

METHOD
1. Over a bonfire, campfire or BBQ toast your marshmallows for 1-2 minutes until they start to melt, bubble and caramelise.

2. Remove the marshmallows from the heat and spoon them onto a tea biscuit.

3. Top the marshmallow layer with a square of Free’ist dark chocolate and top the s’more sandwich with another tea biscuit. Press together to allow the chocolate melt into the hot marshmallows

If you don’t have an open fire you can always recreate this recipe using the microwave or oven.

On a plate (or baking tray if using the oven) place a tea biscuit, topped with three Free’ist marshmallows and a square of dark chocolate.

Microwave for 15-20 seconds or oven cook at 180 °C for 3-5 minutes, so the marshmallow and chocolate start to melt. Remove and top with a second tea biscuit.

Thanks to Vicky at The Flourishing Pantry for co-creation

Free’ist Launch

Sugar Escape Plan Unveiled at Belfast’s Crumlin Road Gaol

A tasty way for consumers to break-free from sugar was unlocked for the first time at Crumlin Road Gaol in Belfast on Friday 22 November.

The infamous gaol was the setting for the launch of Free’ist, our innovative range of sugar-free and no-added-sugar foods that don’t compromise on taste or quality. Free’ist was introduced into the marketplace after a growing demand for tasty treats within the free-from range following extensive market research and trials with consumer focus groups.

The sugar escape plan was unveiled at a briefing in the gaol for our company’s existing and potential customers.

A 13-strong brand of sugar-free cookies, chocolate, wafers and jams has been created to meet a growing demand for tasty treats, especially by consumers with conditions such as diabetes. Several of the products are also gluten-free.

The Free’ist range including four cookies – Hazelnut, Choc Chip, Choc Striped Peanut Cookies and Coconut Cookies; four chocolate bars – Smooth Milk Choc, Hazelnut Choc, Rich Dark Choc and White Strawberry;  Chocolate Wafers Bars and Chocolate Wafer Sticks; and three jams – Strawberry, Raspberry and Marmalade.

Our range has already been listed by retailers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland including Henderson’s, the Musgrave Group and Dunnes Stores. Negotiations are also well advanced with retailer’s and wholesalers in Great Britain

Belfast Half Marathon

Team Free’ist Take Part in Belfast Half Marathon

8 members of staff took part in the first ever Belfast Half Marathon in September 2013 in aid of Diabetes UK NI. There are currently 75,837 people in Northern Ireland living with Diabetes. Our aim was to raise money to help and support those people living with diabetes and their family.

We decided to run under the name “Team Free’ist” in association with the launch of our new sugar free / no added sugar snack range. Taking into account that the majority of staff have never took part in any running challenge, this will predominately be the biggest challenge they have faced yet. As a result of generous donations from members of the public we were able to raise a total amount of £567.23 for Diabetes UK NI.

We would like to thank everyone who helped us in this achievement
